Valentine's day this year!

The perfect Valentines day gift would not be a material thing, in my opinion. To me, it is a nice expensive dinner out. Preferably to a nice steak or seafood place. Many places do a fixed price Valentines day special meal which is fun. Red wine, Caesar salad, and the meal- perfect! Followed of course by a chocolate mousse dessert. After dinner, I think relaxing in front of a fire with the one I love would be so special, you know, like the fires you see on TV shows (that never really occur in real life), wrapped in blankets. However, I also think roses on valentines day are so nice too. The only problem with flowers is that they die rather quickly, and to me, always kind of seem like a waste of money. Im not much for material gifts, so to me, actually doing something nice on valentines day is much more special.
If I were to want a gift, I think this year I'd ask for new running sneakers! I know, weird. But I actually need some and those things can get expensive! I'm not much into jewelry so that wouldn't float my boat. Buying gifts for guys on valentines day is much harder, because I think overall this holiday is a “girls day”. A friend of mine is getting her guy a fancy pen engraved. Not such a fun gift in my opinion. Tickets to a sporting event would nice, basketball or hockey since they are winter sports.

A Very Simple Valentine's Day!

I'm a low maintenance kind of girl – I like to keep things as simple as possible and I really don't like making big plans because it just plain overwhelms me! I've never been one to celebrate holidays, especially Valentine's Day because it seems that The Man is just out to get rich on sappy, love-struck fools. Sadly though, I must admit that since I met my husband two and a half years ago, I became one of those sappy fools – but I DID make a promise to both my husband and myself that we wouldn't spend money on silly things that would make us fat or bankrupt.
Forget the roses. Forget the candies. Forget going out to a really busy restaurant where we have a 20 to 45 minute wait. Valentine's Day is for suckers...or is it? Supposedly, it's a day where you're reminded just how lucky you are – you've got someone who's willing to put up with you and all your faults, right? Well yeah – but you should feel lucky each and every day that you're together with your sweetheart. Don't just wait for one day out of the entire year to be all lovey-dovey and affectionate to each other!
With all of that said, I must say that in my opinion, the perfect Valentine's gift is spending some quality alone time with my love with absolutely no distractions from the outside world. We'll just hole up in our cozy apartment for the day and tell the world not to bother us! No phone calls, no answering the phone...just the two of us, together.
It sounds cheesy I know, but I've gone in the other direction on Valentine's Day with flowers [that die], [an expensive and noisy] dinner at a restaurant and delicious candies [that made me feel guilty for eating them].
Hey Hallmark, Russel Stovers and all the other companies that come out on this so-called day of love: leave us alone!

I'm in love! No, not with some dumb guy--with the Prada Leather BR0830 Carry All Handbag. I got one in white about three weeks ago to celebrate the big bonus I got at the legal shark tank where I work and I am HEAD-OVER-HEELS IN LOVE WITH IT! Its made from grained leather that gives it this classic look--very Jacki O, but not so like the sort of thing your mother would wear--I can easily see Paris Hilton with it, though I'd rather not, I'm very territorial when it comes to my little Italian friend [it's a Prada!] It fits perfectly under my shoulder though its got a lot more room inside than you might think from looking at it. It's perfect for the corporate environment where I work and for going out afterwards. My girlfriends have commented on it and even the Big Tuna who owns the whole law office wanted to know what it was so that he could get one for his wife. And there's nothing better than saying, "Oh, this little thing, it's a Prada!" and watching their eyes get big with envy. Now I just have to get a nice tall Sicilian guy to go along with my little Prada. A girl's got to know how to accessorize!
